robert d. d'ambrosia, md mentor campaign
This special campaign honors Dr. Robert D. D'Ambrosia, chairman emeritus of the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Colorado and former chair at Louisiana State University, and valued mentor to his fellows and residents. Dr. D'Ambrosia is a former grant recipient and a longtime supporter of OREF and we are honored to be partnering with him on this campaign.
We are grateful for everyone who has contributed to this campaign to date.
How Your Support Helps
Funds raised through this campaign will support research that investigates the cause and treatment of osteoporosis, an oftentimes "silent" disease that affects more than 11 percent of U.S. adults aged 50 and over, and disproportionately affects women
(16.5 percent in women versus 5.1 percent in men).1
Dr. D’Ambrosia has a long history of involvement with OREF and has been involved with the Foundation for over 30 years. He first received research funding in 1973: an $11,500 grant to study “The Effects of Humeral Substances and Antiinflammatory
Agents on Normal and Rheumatoid Cartilage Cells in Tissue Culture”.
Because of this relationship and Dr. D’Ambrosia’s impact on generations of orthopaedic surgeons who
trained at the programs he led at LSU and Colorado, he is a worthy honoree of this new campaign. Every dollar raised through gifts to this campaign will be used to support osteoporosis research.
