Research Topic

Sequenced and compared messenger RNA in cartilage from joints undergoing either surgical repair or joint replacement for osteoarthritis to determine which genes in the cells are turned off or turned on in the presence of injury or disease.

Patient Impact

A better understanding of the relationship between the molecular changes in patients with chronic shoulder instability and the clinical development of osteoarthritis to help determine an early intervention for young patients who have dislocated their shoulder that would prevent them from developing osteoarthritis when they’re older.
