The OREF Resident Research Symposium 2024 season began on May 3 with the Midwest Region event, which was held at the Orthopaedic Learning Center in Rosemont, IL and co-hosted with the orthopaedic surgery departments of Rush University Medical Center and the University of Illinois at Chicago. This season, OREF will co-host five regional symposia. The top presenters from each region will compete in OREF's fourth annual National Resident Research Symposium to be held virtually on November 6, 2024. The 2024 symposium schedule is available here.

OREF’s Resident Research Symposia give residents a taste of being a clinician scientist and the opportunity to gain experience in discussing their research publicly. Residents apply through a competitive process to participate in regional symposia. Presentations are scored by a panel of judges with top presenters receiving a cash award and an invitation to participate in the national symposium.

For more than 20 years, OREF has honored its commitment to foster the development of new generations of investigators through research-focused educational programs like our Resident Research Symposia.

The 2024 Resident Research Symposia were made possible through grant support provided by The Hark Family in Memory of Dr. Fred Hark and Dr. William Hark, Smith+Nephew, DePuy Synthes and Zimmer Biomet. For sponsorship opportunities, please contact Dan Krupp at krupp@oref.org.
