Nineteen resident investigators were invited to present at the 2026 Western Region Resident Research Symposium on Wednesday, September 16. The event, which was co-hosted by the University of California, San Diego, showcased research from four regional orthopaedic residency programs.

  • Cedars Sinai Medical Center
  • University of California, Los Angeles
  • University of California San Diego
  • University of California, San Francisco

The event featured a keynote presentation from Billy Eppler, a former Major League Baseball executive with more than two decades in professional baseball front offices. He served as General Manager of the New York Mets and the Los Angeles Angels, and before that as Assistant General Manager of the New York Yankees.

Mr. Eppler is the founder of The Development Arc, a San Diego-based advisory practice for leaders and high performers—people who operate where every decision is visible and every outcome is evaluated. He translates the decision-making and talent-evaluation discipline of a major-league front office into other high-stakes settings and works selectively with athletes and families navigating the competitive athletic path.
