Orthopaedic Resident Research Symposia

Join OREF at a 2021 Resident Research Symposium!

These regional events provide residents with a wonderful opportunity to assemble, socialize and network with their peers while sharing their research projects. Past participants enthusiastically agree that the symposia are a great experience for all residents, whether you are competing or just listening.

The 2021 symposia are made possible through grant support provided by DePuy Synthes, Medacta USA, and Zimmer Biomet.

Currently scheduled 2021 Symposia are listed below. Additional locations will be added as they are finalized. Please note, at this time, symposia will be virtual online events and will be live streamed on OREF TV. If conditions permit, in-person symposia may be scheduled in 2022.

National Symposium

Cash prizes will be awarded at each of the regional symposia. The top three residents from each of them, as well as the Midwest RRS that was hosted by the University of Iowa in the spring, will be invited to compete in the first annual virtual OREF National Resident Research Symposium to be held on Wednesday, November 17 2021.

Cash prizes will also be awarded at the National Resident Research Symposium. Additionally, the National Grand Prize winner will be introduced at an OREF meeting at the 2022 American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Conference scheduled to be held March 22-26 in Chicago. The Grand Prize will include travel costs to the conference. All five symposia will be broadcast on OREF TV.
