Since its founding in 1955, OREF has been funding promising orthopaedic researchers and clinicians working to advance orthopaedic care. Their investigations have expanded knowledge and led to innovative preventive strategies, new diagnostic tools, more effective treatments and better patient outcomes. Many of the research projects that led to these advances began with funding from OREF.
On average, one-third of OREF grant recipients go on to secure grants from larger funding bodies, such as the National Institutes of Health.
