William W. Tipton Jr., M.D. 1940 - 2005 The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation proudly announce The Fifth Annual William W. Tipton Jr., M.D. Leadership Award THANK YOU...nominations are currently closed.  The 2010 Tipton Award recipient will be announced Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the AAOS Annual Meeting in New Orleans. The 2010 William Tipton Leadership Award will be presented at the 2010 AAOS Annual Meeting in New Orleans. The honoree will receive a $5,000 donation to be used in furthering leadership in orthopaedics. The honoree also will receive a plaque to commemorate the Award.  Who may sponsor a nominee? An Academy fellow in good standing or a candidate member eligible for fellowship An orthopaedic resident who has directly and professionally benefited from the activities of the nominee Who is eligible to be a nominee? The nominee must be an AAOS fellow in good standing or a candidate member eligible for fellowship. The nominee agrees to attend, at his/her expense, the 2010 AAOS Annual Meeting in New Orleans to accept the award. The nominee agrees to furnish these supporting materials no later than June 12, 2009: A biographical sketch incorporating those leadership traits and accomplishments that are consistent with the requisite Leadership Qualities — this is preferred to a curriculum vitae. A photograph suitable for publicity purposes, preferably in color and digital format, 300 dpi +/- 20%. Any photoprint(s) or slide(s) will be returned. The nominee's sponsor agrees to furnish these supporting materials no later than June 12, 2009: Completed Nomination Form (see STEP ONE below.) Up to three (3) letters of recommendation. Nomination Process STEP ONE:  Register the nominee by providing contact information for the nominee and for yourself.  This process should take less than two minutes and will provide you with a link to a printer-friendly Nomination Form.
